Hope in Action
As we welcome the new year, it’s a time of reflection, hope, and renewed purpose. For us at WalkWithMe.global, it’s a moment to celebrate the lives touched by our mission and to carry forward our mantra: Hope in Action. This isn’t just a guiding phrase—it’s the heartbeat of everything we do.
We’ve performed nearly 75,000 life-changing surgeries through our KEEP LIFE surgical units—and that’s just in one country. Each surgery represents a life saved, a family given hope, and a future restored. Now, imagine the countless lives transformed across the globe through all of our projects. The scale of impact is extraordinary, but the heart of it lies in every story of healing, every moment of hope, and every person touched by compassion. And today, we want to share one of those stories with you—a story that reminds us of the profound impact of courage, action, and a community united by compassion.

Sashko’s Story

Sashko is an 11-year-old boy from the Kharkiv region of Ukraine. One fateful day, while walking to a store in his town, a shell exploded near him. The force of the blast tore through his body, leaving him severely injured. In an act of unimaginable bravery and quick thinking, Sashko held his severed leg, trying to stop the bleeding.
Medics arrived moments later, applying a tourniquet and rushing Sashko to our nearest Keep Life surgical unit. The medical team, working in the heart of a war zone, wasted no time. They stabilized Sashko and performed emergency surgery that saved his life. Tragically, his leg could not be saved, and he underwent an amputation.
Sashko’s journey didn’t end there. Over the following months, he endured multiple surgeries in Kharkiv before being transferred to Lviv for prosthetics and rehabilitation. It was here that Sashko took his first steps with his new prosthetic leg, beginning a new chapter in his young life.
His doctor, reflecting on the ordeal, shared:
“Every minute was worth its weight in gold. Without the rapid response of the medics and the front-line surgery team, Sashko would not have survived. It’s cases like his that remind us why we do what we do—because every life matters.”
A Glimpse of Hope
Sashko’s story is just one of the 75,000 stories we could tell. The Keep Life mobile medical units are more than a logistical solution—they are lifelines, delivering critical care in places where hospitals have been destroyed, and resources are scarce.
And this is just one country where WalkWithMe.global is providing medical care. Imagine the ripple effect of our 40+ projects worldwide. From restoring the health of individuals like Sashko to rebuilding the futures of entire communities, we’re showing the world that hope isn’t just an emotion—it’s action in motion.
Your Role in Hope in Action
The work we do would not be possible without the support of people like you. Every donation, every word of encouragement, and every shared story fuels our mission. Together, we are saving lives and showing the world what hope looks like when it’s put into action.
As we step into 2025, let’s carry forward the spirit of Sashko’s story. Let’s commit to a year of courage, compassion, and action. Because every minute, every effort, and every act of kindness counts.
Here’s to making this year and amazing year of hope in action. Together, we can change lives—one story, one project, one person at a time.
